Northern Trust Company Ltd has announced that it has successfully gained outline planning permission for up to 450 houses on their 76 acre site located off Redhill Way in Telford.
Telford and Wrekin Council gave the green light for the plans in August when its Planning Committee resolved to grant permission for the outline planning application subject to completion of a S106 Agreement.
The outline plans include a range of house types, of two, three, four and five-bedroom homes with 35% affordable. The plans also see the creation of a retail unit and a public house.
Barton Willmore provided planning, design and landscape services as part of the application process for the scheme, and Ian Gilbert, Planning Associate at Barton Willmore commented “The Site’s location within an area of growth for homes and employment on the eastern side of Telford, as well as access to public transport connections and local services, made it an ideal candidate for a variety of new homes including a range of different house types including affordable and open market properties. The provision of a new public house/ restaurant, alongside local retail will also deliver a gateway experience to the scheme.”
A spokesperson for Northern Trust said “We are delighted to have secured planning permission for this site following extensive discussions and working very closely with Telford and Wrekin Council. This is an exciting development in a sustainable location not only providing a gateway development on the eastern edge of Telford but also providing significant investment into the area and significant benefit to the local community.”
Northern Trust will now look to commence a disposal strategy, inviting negotiations with prospective house builders.
