Northern Trust is an established strategic land promoter with a land bank of more than 5,000 acres and a successful track record of securing planning consents for residential and commercial development throughout the UK.

The dedicated strategic land team has extensive experience of promoting both Northern Trust's own land and sites on behalf of third-party landowners. Over the last two years, the team has secured planning for approximately 4,500 new homes, while current projects across more than 50 sites have the potential to deliver more than 10,000 new homes.

Northern Trust works with a wide range of landowners, including private individuals and families, as well as major organisations such as BP, Severn Trent Water, Associated British Foods and Zurich Assurance Ltd.

Working in partnership with landowners

Northern Trust provides the expertise and financial resources required to promote land through the planning process, at no cost to the landowner.

We manage and fund the planning promotion process, working with specialist consultants and engaging with local authorities, housebuilders, local residents and community groups to help bring forward sustainable development.

Once planning permission has been secured, the site can be marketed to the development industry with the aim of achieving the best possible financial return for the landowner.

Our approach is based on working in partnership with landowners, providing a clear and straightforward route through the planning process while using our experience and resources to maximise the potential value of their land.
