The company's strategic land bank / agricultural portfolio is held within Metacre Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Northern Trust. 

The dedicated strategic land team has an impressive track record of achieving planning consents and has been successfully promoting its own, and third party landowner's sites. In the last 2 years the team has achieved planning for c 4,500 residential units and our current projects, covering more than 50 sites, incorporate a mixture of uses with the potential to deliver more than 10,000 new homes. 

The team has extensive experience of working with private and public landowners, which has included private individuals / families and organisations such as BP, Severn Trent Water, Associated British Foods and Zurich Assurance Ltd.

At no cost to the landowner, we use our in-house expertise and financial resources to fund all aspects of the planning promotion. We obtain planning permission and then market the site to the industry to secure the highest possible financial return for the landowner. During the process, we proactively work with housebuilders, councils, local residents and community groups to deliver much needed housing in sustainable locations that generate significant local community benefits.

Northern Trust has the flexibility to consider site acquisitions on an unconditional or conditional basis, joint ventures and promotion agreements for both residential and commercial sites.
