Northern Trust is pleased to announce that they have completed the sale of a 5.5 acre site in Leyland to Jones Homes; which will see the creation of ‘Farington Grange’, a new housing development of 57 houses with a range 2, 3, and 4 bedroom homes.
Stephen Glenn, Land Executive at Northern Trust commented “Due to the current shortfall in the supply of housing, Northern Trust understands the importance of delivering new homes to the local community. We are delighted to have completed the sale of this land enabling a developer with an excellent reputation to bring forward an exciting residential development in the Farington area of Leyland.”
The disposal of the land neighbouring Farington Lodge Hotel follows Northern Trust’s successful planning application for 55 family homes back in September 2010.  Jones Homes subsequently submitted their own planning application for a revised 57 homes which was approved in November 2011.
Julie Hardy, Sales Director for Jones Homes commented “Farington Grange will give new homebuyers the chance to acquire a stunning family home built to our usual high standards in beautiful open surroundings yet close to all necessary amenities, schools and commuter links. Work is due to start on the site in the coming weeks with the first phase of properties being released for sale in mid April. We’re expecting it to be very popular”
Northern Trust and Jones Homes worked closely together along with South Ribble Borough Council on bringing forward a quality development that will add significant value to the area of Farington.
Mike Fetherstone, Commercial Property Partner at Napthens Solicitors, advised Northern Trust on the deal. He concluded “Northern Trust is a well-respected property business in the UK and the sale of this land shows there is an appetite by house builders to deliver quality residential developments in the area.”
The announcement of the sale comes on the back of Northern Trust’s confirmation that building work has recently started on the nearby private self-build estate.
