NORTHERN TRUST ACQUIRES MANCHESTER BP/CASTROL SITE

13th May 2010

Northern Trust is pleased to announce that it has completed the acquisition of the former BP / Castrol facility in Greater Manchester.

The site covers 175,000 sq ft of industrial/commercial buildings, oil storage, mixing plants/laboratory and ancillary offices.

Mike Riding, Director at Northern Trust commented on the acquisition “We are delighted to have finally secured the purchase of the BP/Castrol site in Manchester. The purchase shows our diversity as a company covering industrial/commercial properties and our extensive expertise in planning strategies on complex sites.”

The new site is a welcome addition to the company’s 8.1 million sq ft commercial portfolio and adds to the land holding which extends to more than 5,000 acres. The industrial/commercial accommodation on the site will be marketed through the company’s in house subsidiary Whittle Jones Chartered Surveyors, whilst the land department will begin to review the regeneration options for the remainder of the site.

Northern Trust’s land department’s role is to promote and develop land opportunities through the planning system and market sectors to include, residential, commercial, leisure and minerals. The company already has over 400 acres of land which is currently being promoted through the planning process for mixed use regeneration.

The BP/Castrol site is located in a predominantly residential area with transport links nearby and local amenities within a short distance.

For further information on the industrial/commercial space on site please contact the one of joint letting agents King Sturge (0161 236 8793) or Whittle Jones (01257 238666).
