A 44.23 acre brownfield former holiday centre, with planning permission for up 165 new homes.
The site of the former holiday centre is located on the edge of the Berry Head area of outstanding natural beauty in Brixham. Situated just off Wall Park Road, Brixham is a small fishing town in the district of Torbay in the county of Devon, in the south-west of England. Brixham is at the southern end of Torbay, across the bay from Torquay.
The site featured a number of sensitive issues including the mitigation of the impact on the AONB and ecological issues around protected species.
Planning consent was achieved by Northern Trust on behalf of the landowner in June 2015. The outline plans included 165 new homes, with 15% affordable and 16.25 acres of enhanced ecological management land transferred to Torbay Coastal and Countryside Trust. The plans also inlcuded improved tourism by way of construction of a 59 pitch touring caravan park and clubhouse; and alonside the touring caravan park the provision of a full sized community sports pitch along with Sport England approved changing facilities.
The housing land has now been sold to a developer.
