HISTORY

• An established farm on the main road between Pontefract and Featherstone.
• An agreement was signed in July 2010 with the landowner for Metacre/Northern Trust to actively promote residential development through the emerging Wakefield MDC Local Development Framework.

APPROACH

• A full master plan/vision document produced based on a robust evidence base relating to landscape, ecological, historical and transport issues.
• Assessment made of other potential allocations.
• Representations were submitted through the Local Development Framework site Allocations DPD consultation.
• Full case presented to an independent Inspector at the Examination hearing sessions during 2011.

STATUS

• Northern Trust will monitor the housing land supply situation to realise any opportunity for submission of an early planning application whether or not allocation through the LDF is achieved.
