HISTORY
An 80 year mill converted to retail commercial units in the 1980’s. The building is in a poor state of repair and refurbishment is commercially unviable.
APPROACH
. Northern Trust have put forward plans for an improved scheme to enhance the retail offer, incorporating a larger grocery store and modern facilities for independent retailers is required.
. The retail development would not be viable without cross subsidy from approximately 40 new houses at the rear of the new retail scheme.
. A full community engagement has resulted in significant amendments to layout and design
STATUS
A planning application has been submitted and Northern Trust are awaiting a result later in the year.
